INGREDIENTS:
Chicken:
1 large chicken (fresh or thawed),
Non-sponsored reccomendation:
We like a size 16 pre-stuffed Tegal chicken to feed 3 adults & 2 children.

Vegetables:
Potato, carrot, onion (red or brown), pumpkin.
Cook enough veges to have some left over.

Salad:
A green salad with tomato & feta cheese is great.

To make a gravy:
Cornflour and chicken salt.

METHOD:

Pre-heat your oven to 180o degrees Celsius.

Put your Chicken into an oven dish.
Tegal are preparing chickens ready to cook and already in an oven-bag.
Oven bags keep the chicken nice and moist.
You can cook the chicken without an oven-bag, just be sure to add about 1 cup of water to the dish and check on it as it cooks to make sure it does not dry out.

Peel and put your vegetables into another oven dish.
Add about 1 cup of water into the oven dish with the veges.

Put your oven dishes into the oven.
The reason we put the chicken on the top shelf is that as the chicken cooks the oven bag will inflate with hot air. The roasting dish with the vegetables does not require the extra height.
Check your roast occasionally to make sure the veges are cooking evenly.

The roast will take about 1 hour to cook.
We like to check the vegetables are cooked before we check the chicken. This is because once you check the chicken the oven bag will be ripped. Check your vegetables with a sharp knife, they should be soft right through.

You can tell when the chicken is cooked by inserting a sharp knife into the chicken. When you remove the knife juices will come out of the cut. The juice will run clear when the chicken is cooked.

To make the gravy.
Pour the juice from the oven dish used to cook the chicken into a pot on the stove,
Add a sprinkle of chicken salt and 2 tablespoons of Cornflour.
Stir using a spoon, fork or whisk until your gravy is lump free and thick.
Pour into a gravy boat & let everyone gravy their meal.

Dish and serve with salad and gravy.
A great way to bring the family or flat together for a meal!
