Bisto gravy
This rich brown gravy goes with so many meals, super easy and super tasty.
Today we are making gravy using the microwave.

INGREDIENTS:
1 & 1/2 tablespoons of Bisto gravy powder,
1 cup of water.

METHOD:
Add 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of Bisto gravy mix to a bowl.

Measure 1 cup of cold water.
From your cup of water add a dribble of water to the gravy powder in the bowl,
Add only a little water, stir the powder & water together to make a gravy paste.

Pour your remaining water into to a microwave safe jug.
Microwave the water on high for 2 minutes.

Add your gravy paste into your Hot Water.
Stir well, until smooth using a spoon or a fork.

Microwave on high for a further 90 seconds.

Following your instructions for making Bistro gravy in the microwave I find that the gravy boils over during the 90 second phase.

We recommend the first time you make Bisto gravy in your microwave:
Place a microwave safe saucer under the jug in case of a boil over – to help make any clean up easy.
We do not use a large jug (as you can see from the photos) but the jug is large enough to be only about half full with 1 cup of water inside.
Make sure you are using a microwave safe jug, if you need to use a larger jug and then transfer the gravy into a serving jug once made then do that.

When microwaving on high for a further 90 seconds microwave the gravy in 15-20 second bursts.
After each 15-20 second burst check & give the gravy a little stir (until you reach 80-90 seconds).
You should start to see the gravy getting bubbles around the inside edge of the jug.
This will be because the gravy is getting ready to start boiling.
Stop then and let the gravy rest.

Stir your gravy and let the gravy stand for 2 minutes.
Standing the gravy lets it thicken a little.
If your food is not quite ready and you need to re-heat the gravy just pop it back in the microwave for 15-20 second bursts & stir until the gravy is hot enough to serve.

Pour generously over your favorite foods.
