JUICE IT (Don’t cook it)
Super charge your body the natural way
By: Ben (HGC’s man on the ground)

Since Dr N.W.Walker cured his own health issues in the early part of the 20th Century using raw juices***, It is agreed that a balanced diet with a daily raw juice intake can cure serious illnesses and relieve symptoms on a host of others. In some instances a total raw vegetable juice diet for a period of several days alone is needed to purge the body and allow the natural enzymes and vitamins, chemicals and compounds to work to alleviate illness or symptoms.
A classic example of the raw power of juice is the healing effect of the humble carrot…duly rendered down juice it is claimed and credited with curing cancer (www.cancertutor.com)

Having become aware of this ‘new truth’, I decided to talk with a person who I know uses juices and is herself a cancer survivor, to get the everyday lowdown on how this raw juice regime can work.

The day to day Juicer:
(An interview with Granny)
Ben: So Granny what can we juice?
Granny :Pretty much every vegetable or fruit can be juiced (but may not be palatable). I stick to the common vegetables, (carrots, beetroot, spinach, perhaps a bit of celery), mainly because of simplicity. Let’s face it, not many people need a book to tell them how to juice a carrot….wash it, top and tail it and juice it!
I know there are many juice recipes to alleviate specific ailments and these are readily available at libraries bookshops or on the net. A book such as (Juicing for Health by Julie Stafford ISBN 0-670-90647-6) is a great place to start.

comment from Hot Girls Cooking: Granny has read the books and been juicing for a years. Trust us she knows her stuff

Ben: What’s the yummiest?
Granny :I like carrot & beetroot or carrot & spinach; sometimes I add a little onion because I know it is so good for the blood and I really like the taste. Onions have a taste that’s hard to define; it makes the mix quite dry and dusty. So onion is a taste not everyone likes!

Another variation is to get a nice base of carrot juice and add a few sticks of celery depending on the quantity you are making (and try a medium sized peeled white or red onion). Another one I like is again make base of carrot juice and add 4 whole washed (top and tailed) beetroot.

I like to always serve the juice chilled or with a few ice cubes. Give it a try you’ll love it.

Ben: How long will juice last once made?
Granny : It will keep a couple of days in the fridge, but really it is always best to drink the freshly made juice each day to get the best out of it. If you are pressed for time, make a bottle on Sunday and see how long it lasts. But after 48hrs or so you will need a fresh batch because the juice will age noticeably due to no preservatives!

Ben: What good will juice do?

Granny : Juice will keep your body running right! You put the good things in and move the bad ones out. You get the vitamins, Nutrients and living enzymes in a nice refreshing drink that is very easy to digest, remember it is a salt, sugar, preservative free serving of vegetable goodness. Juice gets into your system very quickly and the body gets virtually an immediate benefit like a vegetable Intravenous drip. The high fluid content of the juice assists in flushing out wastes and toxins, and that helps get the magic going.

comment from Hot Girls Cooking: this will directly effect clour and make up of your poos (toilet). Beatroot make it red… enought said

Some of the benefits for your internal organs are anti-inflammatory, liver cleansing, blood cleaning, and cancer protection; In fact the whole body benefits including kidneys, bowel, eyes, skin, bones – the whole kit and caboodle!

Comment from Ben According to Grannies books, juice is rich in antioxidants and free radicals.*** They also contain varying concentrations of Iron, Calcium, Vitamins and chemicals depending on the actual vege or fruit used and (of course) the freshness. They should never be cooked to ensure the retention of all the goodies.

Ben: What are some of the better known cures from the common juices?

Granny :Well I am no doctor, but I am a cancer survivor and I can tell you there is a juice for what ails you.

Comment from Ben Carrot is the richest source of vitamin A and it contains an ample supply of vitamins B C D E G and sodium potassium, calcium magnesium and iron, plus fibre.

Carrot Juice helps promote appetite and aids digestion and it is a natural solvent for ulcerous and cancerous conditions.

Carrot juice helps prevent eye throat tonsil sinus and respiratory infections in general. Intestinal and Liver diseases are also assisted by carrot juice.

Tomato juice: Fresh and raw they are rich in sodium calcium potassium magnesium. They have a fairly high citric and malic acid content, both of which are needed and beneficial in the metabolic process.
Remember to ensure the benefit, they must not be cooked, as cooking destroys the vital organic and makes them inorganic.***

Ben: Is fresh Juice all you need for a good diet?

Granny : No, You need a balanced diet of natural (unprocessed) food. However I drink fresh juice to compliment, enhance and increase the amount of nutrients and food enzymes in my diet By adding a juice or two to an already well balanced diet* you will notice a change in your well being in just a few days. You can add as many as you can manage in your own lifestyle….there are no limits, but for our family we have found that carrot juice either alone or with various
additives is a very practical and palatable addition to our everyday diet.

Our family regularly gets inspired and juices for a while then forget about it, then we get back to it! These things can go in circles and that’s ok.

But it is best to keep it up -it’s just a great, healthy addition to your eating life, and hey, that’s a very important part of everybody’s life!
